Jezza’s Place

Our last day we went to Jezza’s so I could say goodbye. I was really happy we had time to hang out. I was sad the week was over and I had to go home. I am going to miss T, Amy and Jezza a lot!

T drew a picture of me. Wow, I love T & Amy they are like my sisters… Amy showed me all of her friends nail art. They got me Kiwi Bird 🙂

And Jezza? I will NEVER forget Jezza! He showed me just what I can do! He believed in me. All of the time people tell me what I can’t do….they focus on my limitations or people get scared thinking I am fragile or they think  I don’t have an opinion because I can’t speak words….. Well what do you think now? Look and everything I just did!

Making Trax is one of the best things that ever happened to me. Jezza is family for life. What he is doing for people with disabilities is beyond words. If any of you are ever looking for a good cause to contribute to think of Jezza.

The most important thing that happened to me was, everyone I met, spoke directly to me. I was treated with respect. People asked what I thought. Usually people speak to my mom or dad and speak about me. No one treated me any different than the next person. They all took such good care of me. Jezza spoke with all of the operators and everyone made sure I was VERY safe. Everyone was excited to be part of this adventure. I want everyone to know how thankful I am. None of this would have happened without all of the amazing people who contributed and believed in me. I will be back in New Zealand someday to re visit lifetime friends. I Love You and everything you did for me!

Now I am back home.

I am going to go through all of our pictures and videos and post many more details of my trip. I can’t wait for you to see more. But that will take some time so hopefully my short story gives you a an idea of how amazing Abigails Adventures was!

Skydive Abel Tasman

YOLO! When mom called Jezza at Making Trax she asked if it was possible for me to skydive. My biggest dream. This is where everything started. Jezza told mom yes and she can do a lot more too. So to end with this was epic. Originally I was supposed to go with a friend of Jezza’s but his plane had some repairs needed. Jezza never gave up. He quickly regrouped and got me set up at Abel Tasman Skydive at Motueka Airport. Jezza pulled out all the stops. The only downside was we had to fly there so Jezza couln’t go with us.

We flew out of Christchurch Airport to Nelson. Nelson is at the north end of the south island.

At the Motueka Airport Abel Tasman picked us up and then the adventure began. First we watched a video of what to expect and then we suited up!

I brought Jezza’s special adapted harness with me so I could land safely. It will keep my feet up when it is time to land. Chek it out!

Image

So guess who is going with me? Papa! lol 🙂 Kevin was my tandem instructor. He is really nice!Image

So up we went and out we jumped! Weeeee, Papa is red and I am black. This was the best day of my life! when I landed all of my emotions overfilled and came spilling out. I called Jezza, T and Amy to share my excitement and accomplishment! Jezza gave me the most powerful week of my life. Because of Making Trax I know anything is possible and I just can’t believe everything I just did!

Thanks Kevin you took me for the best ride in the sky. I jumped out first and landed last! Kevin made it last! He was too cool! Wait until you see the video of this it is amazing!

Ivan the Incredible

Image

Jezza’s next plan for me was in Wanaka. To go see Ivan a professional aerobatic pilot. He gave me a class. We had a long conversation about the experience he was about to give me. Ivan was so nice taking his time to make me feel comfortable and make sure he understood how to communicate with me. It was my job to let him know that I was good and when I had enough.Image

So up in the air we went! We did barrel rolls, victory rolls, stalls and spins. Ivan took me for the flight of a lifetime. It was a blast! Thank you Ivan for taking such good care of me. I loved it so much!

Ivan is awesome!

First Blog jfbb & Camelback

Welcome to my blog.  I am so excited to share with you a peek into Abby’s World yolo… I may have severe physical challenges but my mind has no limitations. I like all of the same things typical teenagers like to do. I like fashion, nail art and Jewelry. I have a pack of puppies. Sparta and Twinkie are my service dogs & Olivia is just a whole lot of trouble. But the thing I love the most is adventure! I love Roller Coasters, crashing waves at the beach, driving off road in a 4WD Jeep getting mud soaked and skiing! If it  has something to do with speed and adrenaline I’m there! I am very lucky to have such a great family and friends that support anything I set my mind to. I have to get pretty creative sometimes adapting equipment or securing my body so I can participate.

I have fears just like anyone. I just turned 14. I spent 5 years in and out of the hospital. I get scared going into surgery and not knowing how much pain I will feel and how long the recovery will be. I am quadriplegic and non verbal, so doctors and nurses do all sorts of procedures and tests whirling my body through space and I can’t say “NO” or “STOP”!  Being so sick made me who I am. It gives me a drive that makes me want to live life big! Sitting in my wheelchair parked in front of a TV is no life for me. I want to experience everything, I like to go go go…  Always looking forward to all of the things I can do.  Now I am going through my bucket list. Believing that everything is possible.

This winter I have been doing a lot of skiing! I love the cold wind on my face, the sound of the snow crunching under my ski but most of all the speed and the thrill! Check out my video

Now for the big news! Abigail’s Big Adventure. Dreams and Wishes do come true. I am such a lucky girl. March 2nd I will be trekking New Zealand hanging out with the Kiwis on an extreme sports vacation. I owe a huge shout out to my new friend Jezza. He is in a wheelchair like me. He formed a company called Making Trax. He organizes adventures for the disabled making the Impossible possible. He is my new friend and hero. I can only aspire to be like him someday. What an amazing role model he is. I am so excited to meet him.You want to stay tuned.  I will post my adventures here as they unfold.
